Straight answers to what you'd want to know before publishing charts under your own name. The details are in the Privacy Policy and Terms.

Drafts are private

A chart is a draft until you publish it. Drafts, their data and your brands are visible to the members of your workspace and to the AI apps and API keys you connected to it, and to chartlink's operator only to run the service: support you ask for, fixing errors, and seeing which features are used. They are never shared or published by us. A draft has no public page, image, embed or data download.

Published charts are public

Publishing gives a chart a public page, an embed, images and a CSV download of its data, for anyone with the link. Don't publish data you wouldn't show your readers. Unpublishing or deleting a chart takes all of those offline at once, though copies someone has already saved can't be recalled.

Brand changes don't touch what you've published

A published chart keeps the look it was published with. When you change a brand, your drafts follow at once; published charts show that an update is available, and change only when you republish them or apply the brand to them.

What the AI sees

Only what you ask it to work on. When you use the assistant in the studio (or ask it to tidy pasted data), your message and any screenshot, web page, brand settings and chart data it needs go to the AI model that answers, through OpenRouter, to the model's provider (such as OpenAI, or Anthropic directly or through a cloud such as AWS). We ask OpenRouter to use only providers that don't keep prompts for training. We don't keep the conversation, only a record of each request's model, size and cost. OpenRouter's own handling is described in its privacy policy. When Claude or another AI app makes charts for you, the conversation stays in that app under its own terms; chartlink receives only the charts, data and settings it sends.

AI apps work only where you let them

When you connect Claude or another AI app, you sign in and choose one workspace. It can make, change and publish charts there. The only way it can spend credits is by upgrading a chart, and it is instructed to do that only when you ask. It can't see your other workspaces. You can disconnect it at any time in the studio.

Accessibility

Every chart is labelled for screen readers with its title and description, and a published chart's data can be downloaded as CSV. Embeds resize to fit the page they're in. A full data table for screen readers is not built yet.

If chartlink ever closes

We will give at least six months' notice, and a way to download all your charts (as images) and their data before it closes. Embeds stop working when the service closes, so the notice is your time to replace them. Upgraded charts stay upgraded for as long as chartlink runs; we never charge again to keep them.

Getting your data, or deleting it

You can download any chart as a PNG from the studio, and a published chart's data as CSV from its page. Deleting a chart takes it offline at once. To get a copy of everything, or to have your account and workspaces erased, email support@chartlink.app from the address you sign in with.
